Lamazi Musika

Lamazi Musika means Beautiful Music in Georgian and was established by Sarah Cobham in November 2009 to enable her to apply for grants and funds to bring the choir Shavnabada over from Georgia.  By becoming an un incorporated association  Sarah was able to set up an account with Unity Trust which then qualified Lamazi Musika to apply for the Community Chest Fund from Wakefield council thus enabling Shavnabada to spend time in Yorkshire in November 2010.

The aims of Lamazi Musika are to enable the vision of the Northern Georgian Society to become real by applying for funding both public and private in order to secure opportunities for the people of the UK but in particular for the people of  Yorkshire  to experience all aspects of Georgian Culture.

Lamazi Musika specialises in providing educational experiences for young people and offers Georgian Experience Days in Primary, Secondary and at University Level.  Lamazi Musika also continues to organise and promote concerts involving students in Yorkshire in particular, to showcase the work they have done with visiting Georgian groups.

Lamazi Musika’s Director and Chair person is Sarah Cobham and its members are Samzeo. The group meets 4 times a year to discuss fund-raising projects.  The initial constitution which is inextricably linked to that of the Northern Georgian Society was approved and adopted November 13th 2009. Final decisions will be made by the Director and Chair.

Should the group close down any monies held in the Lamazi Musika account will be given to the Georgian Choir Shavnabada to continue the work they do bringing Georgian Folk music to the people of the world.
